Working in a stressful field also means dealing with unique challenges, however. Widely reported struggles with PTSD, depression, substance abuse, and other psychological problems within the first responder community indicate the challenges can be quite severe.

 

Join Amy Morgan as she discusses the causes, signs, and symptoms of difficult mental wellness issues in law enforcement - including burnout, panic and fear, PTSD, and suicide - and learn about prevention and treatment of these issues to help yourself or someone you know.

 

About the Presenter

 

Amy Morgan, M.S.C., is the founder and Executive Training Director of Academy Hour, a training provider offering courses to law enforcement and first response teams.

 

She is a member of the Mental Health Committee for the International Public Safety Association (IPSA), and serves as a subject matter expert in the areas of leadership and mental health for the IPSA and the Justice Clearinghouse. Amy also serves as a curriculum developer and instructor of mental health courses for the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training in Oklahoma, and is the Strategic Training Partner for the Oklahoma Association of Chiefs of Police. She holds a master's degree in counseling.
